Through movement-based rites of passage journeys and community action, Melissa mobilizes and mentors emerging leaders around the world, from refugee settlements, to college campuses, to the United Nations.
Threshold Dancing
Between our first miraculous breath at birth and our final laying down to rest, that exhale, we are invited to navigate through many narrow passageways. Natural life cycles unfold along the journey. Unexpected life-crises are also the way of the day. These initiatory experiences can propel us onto the front lines of our creative becoming or cause us to get stuck in inertia, spiraling into destructive beliefs and behaviors. What makes the difference? What are our rites and resources on the path? Acknowledging our unique social locations, we will respectfully befriend our diverse edges while cultivating our embodied centers.

After being hit by lightning at 21, he began a three-decade-long journey of initiation. He is recognized as a practicing shaman by Elder Shamans from the Sami (European tradition), and Achuar and Sápara peoples of the Amazon. Invoking the Unbroken
In this powerful Movement Medicine session, Movement medicine Founder will introduce you to the concept and experience of what he calls 'The Unbroken.'
The Unbroken refers to the intelligence of life as it moves through all things, including you. Knowing it, sensing it and giving more space to it is a major resource for our times when so much of what we hear about refers to what is broken inside us and in the world.
Ya'Acov says that knowing the unbroken through the body-heart-mind helps us to hold and heal that which is broken within is and around us.

Andrea Juhan, Ph.D.  |  USA
Becoming an attuned skillful inhabitant of a human body has always fascinated me. I have approached embodiment through every doorway I could find: Bodywork, Yoga, dance, psychotherapy, meditation, through professional trainings, academic programs and constant dedicated practice. I am a licensed Psychotherapist, and have a Ph.D. in Dance/ Movement Therapy.
Aligning with Change
Embodied movement practices offer the perfect ecosystem for teaching ourselves how to relax with change, to have fun changing, to welcoming change.

In many ways we resist change because it is unknown and not controllable. Dancing at its best, equips us with the resources we need and guides us directly into the unknown. We learn to give way, to move and include, to deeply connect with others and our environment, and embrace what emerges beyond our will.

Movement practice presents us with the essential qualities evolution is calling for: metamorphosis, reinvention, revision, and transformation.

Embodiment - Your soul´s purpose lives in the wisdom of your body
We are discovering that - to awaken our potential - we need to be embodied. Our bodies are the home of our soul, and it is through the body that we experience life and all that we came here to learn. Our bodies also store our life experiences and we can work directly with the body and - in particular - our dancing body, to access and integrate them, so we continue to learn and grow. As we practice Azul conscious movement, what needs to be felt and expressed, rises to the surface of our awareness and we come into contact with what is true for us.

• Learn 3 ways to access embodied movement
• Discover your dancing body
• Feel how the body gives you the information about what is important for your soul

Philip Shepherd   |  USA
Philip Shepherd is the author of two books, Radical Wholeness and New Self, New World, and co-author of Deep Fitness. He also originated The Embodied Present Process (TEPP), which is taught in workshops, retreats and Facilitators Trainings worldwide. TEPP provides over a hundred gentle, unique practices to help people understand the effects of our disembodied culture and recover a deep, intimate presence for themselves. As its practices help people reunite with the fathomless intelligence of the body, they re-sensitizie to the present, reconnect with purpose and discover a new kind of freedom and peace in their lives.
Embodied Thinking and Your Presence in the World
Our culture trains us to separate our thinking from our being, so that we come to live in our heads, deafened to the body’s humming intelligence. This is the primary would we carry within us: it binds us in self-consciousness and conveys the illusion of being alone in the world. It also divides us from our true nature and from the harmony that supports life around us. Philip will shed light on the origins of this cultural wound, and will offer a practice that guides you past that wound and into the freedom of thinking with the whole of your being.

Jamie McHugh  |  USA
Jamie McHugh is an interdisciplinary artist, the creator of Somatic Expression® – Body Wisdom for Modern Minds, and an international teacher of somatic-expressive movement for over 40 years. His work has been deeply influenced by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Emilie Conrad, Anna Halprin, Pomo healer Lorin Smith and the natural world.
Orienting Within: The Art of Regenerative Somatics
Regenerative Somatics are body-based practices for orienting within and attuning to our own nature through the five technologies of somatic experience (breath, vocalization, contact, movement, and stillness). Alternating movement and stillness, sound and silence, and expression and impression, we journey inside to regenerate our proprioception (our body’s self-perception), nourish our neurons, and cultivate more comfort, ease and support. This somatic self-orientation is a way to sense, soften, and settle within as both recuperation from the distress of the world, and preparation for extending outwards to meet and engage the world with grace.

Michael Molin-Skelton  |  USA
Gabrielle once said: "He's black and bald and wears white skirts".
A few things I hold sacred: the love of my life - Anneli, the miracle of that love - Jaylan, integrity, justice, diversity, friends that cherish and challenge me, resilience, hugs-especially now, what i put in my body, trust, hope, connection, choice, permission, dancing alone, dancing with you, truth (it's complicated), transparency, love.
Tending
Endings and beginnings are significant thresholds which rightfully call out to us. But there is a silent space, which whispers to be cradled and nurtured. To tend requires an exquisite gentleness and uncompromising softness.

We will honor endings/beginnings with movement and ritual, and tend the empty space where all possibilities exist in repose. Let’s listen to the quiet amidst our movement …. exhale…. and repeat….. to move at the speed of self-care. Offer yourself time and space to pause within your body and listen deeply to what is now rather than what is next or what is no longer.

She is also the Founder and International Program Director of Art to Healing, a charity supporting the trauma recovery of child sex slaves and gender-based violence in Asia and the Pacific.
Healing Trauma through the Felt Sense of Safety
The body is a gateway, not just to healing, but it is also a portal into a direct knowing with universal intelligence, the intelligence which breathes us, which formed us into being. We have access to this intelligence when we start to turn our attention into our sensory perception, which is another way of knowing ourselves.

This way of knowing ourselves is also called "The Felt Sense" or our "Body's Sense". In this internal landscape, we can start to befriend ourselves in a different way, through the language of the nervous system.

In this lecture with Atira Tan, somatic trauma specialist and educator, she will share an overview on:
- The body's role in trauma resolution.
- 3 ways to access the felt sense.
- 3 tips to connect to an internal atmosphere of safety through embodied practices.

On the edge of the unknown
There’s wisdom hidden in the dark, in the underground spaces of the body, that can serve us well in times of trouble. Our feet are part of the wild mind of the earth, if only we could learn to listen. Breakdown gathers pace, opens the doors to breakthrough. We’re all needed, each with our own unique perspective. Maybe the times are calling for our courageous determination to stand on the threshold of the unknown — trembling, unsure — staying anyway — willing to be a quivering flame. Vulnerability is the truth, when we don’t know what’s coming. Let’s take a step, together.

Planetary Awakening Conscious Evolution
We are currently not on a pace to make conscious living pervasive worldwide by 2040. If we wish to leaver a sustainable and flourishing planet to next generations we must achieve our objective. It is paramount. The questions becomes, how to do this? We believe there is a “first domino”. This is becoming conscious ourselves. Understanding that we are all One with the Universe/Divine. The “field” or properties of the whole are embedded in all of life at a cellular level. When we see and understand this and put ourselves in service to the whole, to life, we tap all of the power that is within us. We see and understand this is why we were born on the Earth at this time. We come into positive action to serve and nurture humanity and all of life.

Mary Lane  |  USA
Mary Lane  has a 40-year career as a chef, in which she awakened and deepened her understanding in how our relationship with food could support us to heal and reclaim the Divine nature of our human journey of transformation. She connects the dots between this deep collective healing, what we eat from season to season in our local environment, and how it can nourish us on the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.
Divine Nourishment: Our Spiritual Connection with Food
There is no embodiment without food. Spirit cannot come into form without it. It is food that creates, maintains embodiment, and the quality of it. And, supports our soul’s evolution as we embrace this human experience. When you consider this, it is worth paying attention to the consciousness of what you feed your body, and how that affects your consciousness, and vibrational frequency, don’t you think? I would love to take this journey of exploration with you and share what I have discovered over the last 40 years on my journey with food, and Mother Earth.
